When: Changes are proposed to take effect later in 2025 or early 2026 based on resource availability.
Why:
These changes aim to improve service reliability and bring to life ideas from recent Local Area Transit Plans (LATPs). Some of the key reasons for these changes include:
Routes on the Peninsula and Routes 39 Westhills/UVic and 51 Langford/UVic are falling behind schedule due to changing road conditions. Buses are no longer arriving on time.
New bus stop locations and changes in land use have created new needs and opportunities for service.
Priorities identified in the most recent LATP have not yet been implemented.
Key Benefits:
Peninsula Local Routes: Improved service to the West Sidney Industrial Area; more trips between Brentwood, Saanichton, and Sidney; increased service to Tsawout First Nation; enhanced schedule reliability.
Routes 39 and 51: Slightly faster travel times; service to the new West Shore Campus; service to higher population areas; one to two additional trips.
Routes 61 and 65: Opportunities to improve service coverage within Sooke in 2025/26, with the introduction of new local Sooke service in 2027.
