The Engagement Summary for this Service Change Survey has been posted. Please see the document in the list to the right.
A survey was conducted between October 30 and November 13, 2023, about routes 9, 11, 24, 25 and transit service along the Admirals-McKenzie corridor.
BC Transit heard strong support for support a new Admirals-McKenzie route, but also heard significant concerns with the proposed frequency of that route, as well as the impacts of the changes to routes 24 and/or 25 that would be needed to help create the new route.
Next Steps:
BC Transit staff will recommend that the Victoria Regional Transit Commission postpone implementation of the Route 40 Esquimalt/UVIC via Admirals-McKenzie service until additional hours and vehicles are available.
Passenger loads and service performance on Route 9 and the restored-routing Route 11 will be monitored.
BC Transit staff will work with District of Esquimalt staff to seek layover space in the core of Esquimalt for the new Admirals-McKenzie bus. This space will enable bus routes to end and/or begin where they can most support greater transit use for people living, shopping and working in Esquimalt Town Centre.
