FAQs
- Funding from the Province of British Columbia for additional bus service hours.
- Delivery of new buses.
- Transit enhancements by the District of Saanich and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI).
When will these changes occur?
We are currently unsure when these changes will occur. The timeline depends on the following:
Why does Route 26: Dockyard/UVic need to change to implement the Route 96: Mckenzie Rapid Bus?
Route 26 requires adjustments to accommodate the heightened service between Uptown and UVic resulting from the Rapid Bus implementation. These modifications will ensure efficient allocation of resources, broader coverage, and improved service across the region.
Click here (Page 5) for some of the decision-making regarding the proposed changes to Route 26.
Why can Route 26: Dockyard/UVic not connect to the new Rapid Bus?
Route 26 is unable to connect to the Mackenzie Rapid Bus due to scheduling conflicts around the Tillicum area, potentially making it unpredictable and causing delays that would affect its adherence to the Rapid Bus schedule.
When this plan is implemented, how would I transfer from the current Route 95 Langford/Downtown Rapid Bus to the new Route 96 McKenzie Rapid Bus?
Currently, the bus stops for routes 95 and 96 are 120-180 meters apart, involving crossing two busy intersections at Saanich Road and Douglas Street (Highway 1). To address this challenge, a switch bridge will be constructed over Highway 1 to connect the two bus stops, spanning approximately 150-260 meters.
