VRTP First Nations Engagement

We need your input!

BC Transit is seeking input into the long-term goals and priorities for the Victoria Regional Transit Plan. The plan is being developed with input from the Capital Regional District (CRD) and other area partners to ensure alignment in regional transportation planning

Your Nation’s perspectives are essential to ensure the VRTP reflects community priorities, supports reconciliation, and strengthens connections across the region. We are seeking:

• Input on Transit Needs and Priorities — including ways to improve access to jobs, education, healthcare, cultural events, and goods movement.

• Guidance on Network Design and Accessibility — so service changes and investments address barriers and provide safe, reliable, and inclusive options that reflect the diverse needs of communities.

• Advice on Challenges and Opportunities — so gaps are identified early and addressed collaboratively.

Your feedback will directly inform the updated service guidelines, network design, and investment priorities in the final plan.

Your feedback is a key input for the plan!

Managing the transit network involves many stakeholders and considerations. For this plan, BC Transit is considering:

  • Your feedback, through this engagement process

  • Engagement with First Nations community leaders

  • BC Transit data on where people ride the bus, how full buses are, where buses are getting stuck in traffic, and more

  • Official community plans, Provincial mandates and policies, and other documents that outline how the region plans to evolve

  • Transit system best practices

  • Opportunities to use new technologies, like electric buses

  • Funding and operational constraints
