What is working well for transit in the West Shore?
about 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded.Let us know what you like about transit in the West Shore!
Landonabout 1 year agoDouble decker buses. You can fit more people and they can see farther ahead than the driver and call down to them, "Hey, you can make it!!!"
Efficiency to the max

What could be improved?
about 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded.Beachguruabout 1 year ago2 separate routes for Metchosin. Royal Bay's new Exchange to Weir's Beach and back. Another Langford Exc to Beacher Bay via Happy Valley.
Many of us would use the bus as our primary transport, but we need more frequency. The 55 at 6:45 am is a start, but why not another at 7:15 am and again at 7:45 am so we can arrive by 8:30 and 9 am? return needs same. Plus these beaches are popular with car owners, I'm sure many would love to explore via bus if they had better access from Royal Bay to Witty's lagoon and Tower Point.

The routing for 50 should stay the same and RapidBus should be used to limit stop routing. Both routes should stay at Langford Exchange to service the maximum amount of transfer to local West Shore routes because non easy transfer could reduce public transit use.
0 comment0Ryanover 1 year agoReimplement the 76 (Uvic to Swartz Bay)
Reimplement the 76 that goes from the UVic bus exchange to Swartz Bay on Mondays/Fridays.
0 comment0tlangeabout 1 year agoCommuter rail
The E&N train that Via Rail used to operate was a joke, but with density on the rise in Westshore, we need to build up that corridor into a multimodal transit network: electrified light rail (or regional commuter rail going north to Duncan) with two sets of rail tracks offering bidirectional frequent service at speeds that outmatch the highway commute, placed next to a paved bike path offering commuters and community members choice in how they get around.

Consider lowering the age for a senior's pass/ticket. Many of us are retiring at 60 and on fixed incomes.
